Answer:Explain how the resolution of the play helps develop a theme related to secrets, fate, or love.

Sample Response: The resolution helps show the theme that fate, not free will, controls our destiny. Romeo and Juliet wanted to be together despite their families' feud, but the result was that they both died. We learn in the prologue that Romeo and Juliet's relationship was doomed from the start. Though the characters made decisions that led to the catastrophe, certain events were out of their control. Had Friar John not been quarantined because of the plague, the couple might still be alive. They were pawns of fate, and they were fated to die so that their families would stop feuding.

Which phrase can be changed when paraphrasing this text?
bezimeni [28]

Full Question:

Read the excerpt from the building of manhattan.

<em>It was a monumental task: to design the world's tallest building, create as much usable rental space as possible, plan so it could be built within 18 months, and still have a handsome building. in the end, architect william lamb worked on fifteen designs before his plan "k" was finally chosen</em>.

Which phrase can be changed when paraphrasing this text?

A) within 18 months

B) plan ‘K’

C) handsome building

D) william lamb

Answer:

The correct answer is C) handsome building

Explanation:

To paraphrase means to put forward the definition of (something written or spoken) using alternate meanings to give it greater clarity.

In the sentence above, the phrase "handsome building" is murky.

The building (in this context) can only be "<em>handsome</em>" if after it is properly constructed according to sound and generally accepted engineering requirements without losing the original design and altering the projected cost, it still meets the contractors' expectations as the <em>Worlds Tallest Building. </em>

Afterall, he who pays the piper, calls the tune.

Note that the writer communicates challenges with constraints that threatened to force the alteration of the purpose of the building which is to have the Worlds Tallest Building.

There were the constraints of Time and Purpose.

So, a rephrased sentence would look like this:

<em>It was a monumental task: to design the world's tallest building, create as much usable rental space as possible, plan so it could be built within 18 months, and still meet the objective of the Project Owner of becoming the Worlds Tallest Building. In the end, architect William Lamb worked on fifteen designs before his plan "K" was finally chosen.  </em>

Decide if the underlined part of each sentence is an absolute phrase, an appositive phrase, a restrictive clause, or a nonrestri
Zepler [3.9K]

The answer to the question above is the following one:

a) The concert that I attended was held last August.

A is a restrictive clause because it modifies the noun it precedes. It provides essential information as regards the sentence. If it was dropped, the sentence would not have the same meaning.

b) The audience moved as one, the crowd swaying the music.

B is an absolute phrase. Absolute phrases are phrases that modify a noun in a sentence but they are not connected to the sentence by a conjunction.  They are set off with a comma and can be deleted from the sentence without altering its meaning.

c) The  concert, which had been rescheduled, was sold out.

C is nonrestrictive clause. It provides information which is considered nonessential. Therefore, it can be erased without altering the meaning of the sentence.

d) The band, a hometown favorite, came back for serveral encores

D is an appositive phrase. An appositive is a noun or a noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. They are set off with commas.

Cathy just bought a hang glider which of these could have been an internal factor that influenced Cathy's decision
lutik1710 [3]

Cathy just bought a hang glider. Which of these could have been an internal factor that influenced Cathy's decision?

A. Cathy just loves the way hang gliders float through the air.

B. Everyone else who lives on Cathy's block has a hang glider.

C. Cathy recently read an article in a magazine about hang gliders.

D. Cathy just saw a movie in which the star flew with a hang glider

Internal factors are things such as needs, motives, and perceptions, while external factors include things such as family, friends, or social media. Options B, C, and D are external factors because the decision to buy would be based on the people on her block, a magazine article, or a movie. Only option A is based on Cathy's own perception.
