Answer:

1. To help Cuba gain Independence

2. To avenge the sinking of the Maine

3. To protect economic interest in Cuba

Explanation:

The reasons the United States fought in the Spanish-American War of 1898 from the above are:

To help Cuba gain independence from Spain.

Prior to the sinking of the United States Navy armored cruiser USS Maine in Havana Harbor, there has been an agitation by Cuban to become independent from the Spanish rule. The revolution, coupled with the atrocity of the sinking of American war ship then led to the willingness of the U.S to enter the war.

In addition, the economic interest of the U.S in Cuba was to be protected because the interest is being harmed by the prolonged conflict. Though the was started after the sinking of the American naval ship, there was no evidence that points to the involvement of the Spanish in this, nonetheless, it was used by the U.S as a rational for entering into the war.

from the above, it can be concluded that these reasons were behind the willingness of the United States to start war with the Spanish.

Does Andrew Carnegie believe that there is anything wrong with amassing wealth?
KATRIN_1 [288]
Yes, he does. In his essay "The Gospel of Wealth" (1889), he wrote: "... the amassing of wealth is one of the worst species of idolatry."
Although he is considered one of the richest American men to have ever lived, he himself was a philanthropist, believing that what was gained by society should be given back to society as well.
