First and foremost, I would like to thank you all for your ability to think outside the box. While it is easier said than done,

you all fit the bill and remain true to form by creating marketing campaigns that pass with flying colors. As we move on to the next assignment as quick as a flash, remember that despite the turnaround speed of our projects, we can’t afford to shoot from the hip. We must stand our ground and remain the exception to the rule, producing promotions that are better than new and good to go. Last but not least, please
save the date for our annual company BBQ on May 23.

Which of the following are clichés included in the preceding message? Check all that apply.

1. Thank you
2. Shoot from the hip
3. Better than new Company
4. BBQ
5. Easier said than done
6. Think outside the box
7. The exception to the rule
8. Producing promotions
9. Pass with flying colors

Answer:

The clichés in the list are;

5. Easier said than done

6. Think outside the box

9. Pass with flying colors

Explanation:

A cliche is an artistic element, expression or idea used to connote an expression that was once striking and effective, but has lost its original force and effect overtime due to overuse. It refers to the use of phrases or ideas in communication that are easily expected and predictable, due to previous and frequent use in prior events.

The selections above are cliches that are overused in modern communications, and their individual meanings are;

5.  easier said than done; to be more easily talked about than put into practice.

6. Think outside the box; it means to think creatively or originally not using other people's ideas

9. Pass with flying colors; means to be extremely successful in achieving something than is seemingly difficult.
