Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

A character feuding with a close friend.

A character living in a harsh environment.

A character being judged by the community.

Explanation:

External conflict in a literary work refers to a fight or struggle between the main character and some outside force. An outside force means it is outside the body of the character. There are three main types of external conflict in literature:

 • Character to character: The most common one is the protagonist versus the antagonist, a character feuding with a close friend is an example of a character to character conflict.
 • Character versus society: This conflict refers to the main character struggling with social forces, examples of this conflict are a character being judged by the community and a character living in a harsh environment, when a harsh environment refers to the social environment he is surrounded by.
 • Character versus nature: When the protagonist struggles against forces of nature. An example can also be a character living in a harsh environment, when it refers to climate conditions.

nika2105 [10]

Answer:

They may have inspired the author to make August's character strong enough to face the challenges of a new school with the loving support of his family.

Explanation:

The children's novel Wonder by Raquel Jaramillo tells the story of a physically deformed boy August "Auggie" Pullman. The whole plot revolves around his deformity and how he began to accept what he really is, despite the deformity. The story also delves into his relationship with his best friend Jack and his sister Olivia's frustration in having to sacrifice her needs to her brother's needs.

In Natalie Merchant's song Wonder, she sings about a girl who will make her way "with love, with patience, and with faith". These very words may have inspired the author to make the young boy Auggie's character strong enough to be able to overcome the challenges that he will face in the new school. Added to that, the support of his loving family members, even his own sister Olivia will also help him face the challenges.

Gatsby spends five years dreaming about Daisy and being reunited with her. Describe Daisy the “colossal” illusion. How does his
Firlakuza [10]
Daisy was in a relationship with Gatsby at an early age. He has been gone for 10 years and she had thought he died in WW1. Gatsby was Daisy's first love and she had put him and their relationship on a pedestal. At first their is disbelief that Gatsby is in fact not dead but alive. She is madly in love with him and does not understand how he is still alive and is enraptured by the enigma and mysterious circumstances his appearance has brought into her life. After the death of Myrtle Wilson, Daisy is able to return back to her normal life. The ease in which she is able to actually do this is testament to the societal views towards women at the time. Women were viewed as helpless and Daisy was probably thought incapable of a vicious murder so the police did not pursue an indictment. Her husband was also a powerful businessman and must have certainly had clout in the political sphere.
