Debora [2.8K]

Answer:

To remove the "dead-weight phrase" in the sentence: "It has been found that most people consider buying a house the largest purchase they can ever make," it can be rewritten as follows:

"Most people consider buying a house the largest purchase they can ever make."

Explanation:

A dead-weight phrase is one that is not helpful in a sentence to convey the intended meaning.  This implies that the meaning can still be picked up without the phrase.  For example, the phrase: "it has been found that" is not necessary in the sentence.  The meaning of the sentence is conveniently conveyed with its omission.  The meaning is not lost if the sentence is rewritten as "Most people consider buying a house the largest purchase they can ever make."

Generally, a dead-weight is an unnecessary burden that can be jettisoned to make a load lighter.  Also an unhelpful person can be considered as a dead-weight.

Which of the following describe a “working thesis statement”? i. a changeable focus for your research ii. a statement that makes
LekaFEV [45]
Hey MatloccerSha,

I would have to say that the answer is answer choice 2, because 1 and 3 simply don't cut it when defining a thesis statement. For the first choice, a thesis statement and research for it should be most often focused on one topic. For the third choice, a thesis is used all throughout the process of creating of an essay. A proper thesis statement should do a good job of summarizing what your essay is about. Hope this helped.

Elena L [17]

The answer is: rhyming "fruitfulness" and "bless" suggests a need for religion during the autumn harvest.

The lexis used in “To Autumn” by John Keats the lexis goes over the maturity field with word like "fruitfulness" and "swell" preparing himself for the new life and the poet’s dead and by rhyming it with “bless" suggests a need for religion during the autumn harvest.
