Read the excerpt from “The Scarlet Ibis.” That winter we didn’t make much progress, for I was in school and Doodle suffered from

one bad cold after another. But when spring came, rich and warm, we raised our sights again. Success lay at the end of summer like a pot of gold, and our campaign got off to a good start. On hot days, Doodle and I went down to Horsehead Landing and I gave him swimming lessons or showed him how to row a boat. Sometimes we descended into the cool greenness of Old Woman Swamp and climbed the rope vines or boxed scientifically beneath the pine where he had learned to walk. Promise hung about us like the leaves, and wherever we looked, ferns unfurled and birds broke into song. Which sentences from the excerpt most emphasize that spring has become a symbol of hope for the boys? Check all that apply. What does dead as a dumpling mean
Kamila [148]
It means the same thing as "dead as a doornail" completely dead. Dumplings aren't alive so they are "dead". So "dead as a dumpling" means to be completely dead, not alive in the slightest.

In at least 150 words, explain why Borges’s narrative “The Garden of Forking Paths” is often considered a precursor to hypertext
lilavasa [31]
A hypertext is a digital text in which one or more hyperlinks are embedded, a hyperlink is a word, picture, or graphic element in digital media that is connected through a mouse click to another location in a digital document or webpage. Borges uses allusions like a hypertext to further connect his ideas in the story, "Garden of Forking Paths" by implying their connections through time. An Allusion is a reference to other people and events whose images serve as a symbol of a broad concept or theme. The allusions become metaphors for the connections of people on Earth over generations. For example, on the train, a boy reads the Annals of the Roman historian and Senator Tacitus. The Annals provide us with a record of the history of the Roman Empire, but Tacitus never completed his work, and like the missing pages in the document, some of it did not survive over time.
