Answer:

D. It shows the shift in Glen Curtis's career by stating the fact that he went from being an unknown person to becoming a celebrity.

Explanation:

Using knowledge gained from the Red Wing and the White Wing, Curtiss built the "June Bug", outfitted with additional improvements. This airplane responded so well in testing, that Curtiss determined to enter it in competition for the Scientific American trophy. He won the first leg in 1908.

He did an aircraft and  named it the "Hudson Flyer". He won the prize money, nationwide recognition, and in the process, won the third leg of the Scientific American Competition and permanent possession of the coveted trophy.

A final high point in Curtiss's aviation career came in 1919, when the U.S.Navy Curtiss NC-4 Flying Boat became the first aircraft to successfully cross the Atlantic Ocean.

In at least 150 words, describe Socrates' philosophical method, how it works, and what type of knowledge is attained
MAVERICK [17]

Answer: The Elenchus

Explanation: Socrates' method of philosophy is most commonly known as The Elenchus or the dialectical method. Knowledge gained from this method was considered by Aristotle to be 'dialectical knowledge'. Dialectical knowledge was said to form the boundary between the theoretical and the practical aspects of knowledge.

The method of the Elenchus was (and still is, I assume), the following:

1. Raise the most important question (a kind of 'theory' or later 'thesis').

2. Investigate the question thoroughly to make sure that the very best answer is reached, by raising further questions, answering each of them ("they being smaller questions, it will be easier to answer them" --- paraphrasing Plato)

3. At the conclusion of the inquiry, to declare if the problem is solved, and if so, in what way of definition.

4. To continue philosophizing.

However, in Athens, Socrates' particular application of the Elenchus earned him the reputation of a 'gadfly' --- someone who perhaps didn't have the best good in mind (although, according to Plato, Socrates was always a helpful person, and didn't ask for any payments).

Which of the following lines is a cliché?
Ipatiy [6.2K]

A cliché is a sentence or phrase that has been used too many times that it has lost its significance, for which it had been once important. Another characteristic of a cliché is that they intend to add greatness to a very repetitive and overly used concept. The romantic movies would be a good example of it, we all know love is a nice experience, but in romance movies they tend to exaggerate the feeling by making it look heavenly all the time, which we all know it is not that way all the time.

From the options we have here the lines that represent a cliché better is:

4. A thing of beauty is a joy forever

This saying has the two main characteristics of a cliché, it has been said too many times, and it talks about beauty and joy forever. We know that nothing has beauty and produces joy forever, hence this is the perfect example of a cliché.
