People lived in different lodging houses based on how much they could afford. In the workhouses, the immigrants are abused and suffer from racism against them from other ethic groups which stood above them. They worked non-stop and those that don't know english were shunned by all others in the workhouses.

Aztecs had the nobles who were leaders, priests, and officials in the government, then they had the commoners who would be farmers or artisans, and then they had the slaves or serfs. For Ancient Egypt on the top was the Pharoh, then the government officials, then came the soldiers for protection, scribes that kept records and other work, merchants, peasants, and at the very bottom there were slaves.

This was because it happened so soon after WWII that neither wanted to be held responsibly for another war. However, they both were feuding, so they turned to other non-violent means to contend with each other- such as spying, double-agents, espionage, etc.
