Haroun and the Sea of Stories how does the author Salman Rushdie uses the motif of silenced voices to develop a theme?

English

scoray [572]2 years ago

Answer:

The silenced voices are used to build the theme that a society needs to maintain a balance between sensibility and freedom of expression to maintain itself.

Explanation:

The author uses the concept of silenced voices to show how censorship is harmful to a society. This is because the voice and life stories of each individual give life to that society and establish the personality of the individuals characterizing the society and strengthening it.

However, the author does not fail to show when the silencing of voices, censorship, in this case, is necessary to keep society together, protected, strong and efficient. With this, the author establishes the theme that it is important that a balance is maintained in any community, between silence and speech, between censorship and freedom of expression.

Predict how you feel time, place, weather, and colors will play a key role in setting the Dystopian tone in 1984
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer:

Explanation:

Setting and tone/mood can be seen to go hand in hand, so to speak.  For instance, a scene of a story or poem that takes place in a field of flower on a bright and sunny day would contribute to a tone of happiness.  That said, the time 1984 occurs is in the future for the characters of the novel.  The place is London, and the weather and color are, respectively, dreary and gray.   Because the future can never be known for sure, this uncertainty contributes to the dystopian tone.   Likewise, when one thinks about the miserable nature for people that would be caused by a dystopian society, bright and sunny are not what one might generally think.   Setting in 1984 contributes to the tone of dystopia because when one pictures what a dystopia might look like, smoggy, foggy, and gray are probably what come to mind.

raketka [301]

Answer:

identify and evaluate the consequences

Explanation:

"Will Kimi accept her friend's invitation to use drugs?"

This is a yes or no question, but the decision making process is not.

She already knows the problem and there are not options available for this besides yes or no. There's nothing about her friend's decision for her to evaluate because it's about her and her health, no her friend's. So in the end, she has to know what will happen to her health once she decides to go along with it. Is it worth doing?
