Answer:

The answer is: Dean and his Fancy Dogs

Explanation:

In the original writing it says that:

<u>Now Dean shows up to ruin everything, ”he thought as he checked his equipment one last time. "Dean doesn't know anything about dogs.</u><u> He just spent a lot of money to buy some top gear and a fancy sled</u><u>." Just thinking about it made Jake so angry that he didn't even notice the temperature dropping to minus two. </u>

Jake feels that Dean is a cheater, does not value his dogs and just spends a lot of money on his sled, so he thinks that because his dogs and his sled are better that he will not be able to win the race.

Answer:

Mira is more mature than the other kids in the group.

Mira is acting like a leader for the group of children.

Explanation:

<em>"Games at Twilight"</em> is Anita Desai's short story. Set in tropical India during the British rule, the story explores the theme of childhood, self-esteem, innocence, etc.

In the story, the author describes the games that children play outside. One child, Ravi, is deeply disappointed whenever he looses a game. Mira, on the other hand, represents a 'motherly' figure for all the other children. She is quite mature, as opposed to her peers.
