PLEASE ANSWER Read the passage. This edition of the Columbus letter, printed in Basel in 1494, is illustrated. The five woodcuts

, which supposedly illustrate Columbus’s voyage and the New World, are in fact mostly imaginary, and were probably adapted drawings of Mediterranean places. This widely published report made Columbus famous throughout Europe. It earned him the title of Admiral, secured him continued royal patronage, and enabled him to make three more trips to the Caribbean, which he firmly believed to the end was a part of Asia. Seventeen editions of the letter were published between 1493 and 1497. Only eight copies of all the editions are extant. –"Columbus’s Voyage and the New World,” Library of Congress
Which statement best describes the viewpoint expressed in the passage?
-The contents of the letter are corroborated by the illustrations of the voyages.
-The fame that Columbus gained from his voyages is based on unreliable sources.
-The illustrations of Columbus’s voyages are direct evidence of his accomplishments.
-The trips that Columbus took allowed him to make important discoveries about the world.

What does Morgan argue about the role of plantation owners in shaping patriotic rhetoric?
Bas_tet [7]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached, we can say the following.

What Morgan argued about the role of plantation owners in shaping patriotic rhetoric was that after Bacon's rebellion, landlords stop using indentured servitude, although in some cases it was cheaper than to buy black slaves.

So with this change, plantation owners started to form the patriotic rhetoric that exalted their work and actions were for the benefit of colonial America. They tried to maintain relatively social stability, for instance, in the Jamestown, Virginia, colony, that benefited their production and exportation of cash crops to Europe.

Edmund Sears Morgan (1916-2013) was an American professor and historian who worked at the universities of Chicago, Brown, and Yale, and specialized in the history of the American colonies.

Answer:

The Infamy Speech was a discourse conveyed by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt to a Joint Session of the US Congress on December 8, 1941, one day after the Empire of Japan's assault on the US maritime base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and the Japanese assertion of war on the United States and the British Empire. The name gets from the primary line of the discourse: Roosevelt portraying the earlier day as "a date which will live in notoriety". The discourse is likewise generally alluded to as the "Pearl Harbor Speech".

Inside a hour of the discourse, Congress passed a formal revelation of war against Japan and authoritatively brought the U.S. into World War II. The location is a standout amongst the most well known of all American political addresses

Famous quotes of that speech: "Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

"We must be the great arsenal of democracy. For us this is an emergency as serious as war itself. We must apply ourselves to our task with the same resolution, the same sense of urgency, the same spirit of patriotism and sacrifice as we would show were we at war."

"No man can tame a tiger into a kitten by stroking it. There can be no appeasement with ruthlessness. There can be no reasoning with an incendiary bomb. We know now that a nation can have peace with the Nazis only at the price of total surrender."
