The correct answer to this open question is the following.

It seems that the question is incomplete. However, doing some research we can comment on the following.

Department stores increased Carrie's desire to consume goods in that the department stores were professional retail companies that knew how to captivate the consumer's mind. The stores hired professional people to manage the place who knew how to serve the consumer. Carrie noticed the way the products were displayed in the stands and felt very attracted to the products. She saw many people in the busy aisles of the store and realized the variety of products such as jewelry, clothes, sundries, and many more that were there to buy. That is why she felt inclined to consume the products.

explain how a local fast food restaurant manager faces almost perfect competition in demand for high-school employee labor
iren2701 [21]

A local fast food restaurant manager is usually facing an almost perfect competition in demand for high-school employee labor. That of course goes mostly to the benefit of the restaurant, and in lesser measure to the high-school students as well.

The reason for this kind of situation is that the fast food restaurants do not seek any specific working skills or experience. It is also the easiest and most available job that the high-school students can get. The high-school students do not have high demands for their wages, as they use it as a job from which they can collect some spear money, usually for when they go to college. The manager faces a situation where there's labor force in abundance, much more than it is needed, with low demands for wage, and the work will be adequately done.

To what extent were LBJ’s policies an extension of populism and progressivism?
vazorg [7]

Answer:

The two main policies of Lyndon B. Johnson were the Great Society, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

These policies had the goal of either granting equal rights to all people, and ending many forms of discrimination (Civil Rights Act), or increasing the government provision of welfare benefits to its citizens (the Great Society).

Both policies can be seen as a direct result of progressive and populist policies that were enacted decades before.

For example, the policies of the Great Society are seen by many scholars as a direct expansion of the policies of the New Deal, of Franklin D. Roosevelt, which were progressive policies aimed at helping poor Americans affected during the Great Depression of the 1930s.
