Look at the maps. The top map shows carbon dioxide released by wildfires. The bottom map shows how the carbon dioxide would have

been reduced by prescribed fires. In an essay that talks about ways to reduce carbon dioxide, these maps would most likely be used as evidence to support a claim that prescribed fires are beneficial. a rebuttal against a claim that prescribed fires are beneficial. evidence to support a counterclaim that prescribed fires are not a benefit. a rebuttal against a counterclaim that prescribed fires provide benefits

The correct answer is A.

The bottom map provides data that shows that prescribed fires would actually reduce the carbon dioxide, as opposed to wild fires, which would produce it in large quantities.

Therefore, these maps could be used as evidence to support the idea that prescribed fires are benefitial for the environment, rather than harmful.

Which sentence in the excerpt supports the claim that the American colonies could thrive independently from Britain? A) I have h
Digiron [165]

C) But even this is admitting more than is true, for I answer roundly, that America would have flourished as much, and probably much more, had no European power had any thing to do with her.

In Option C, Paine is stating that America would actually have been better off if it was not controlled by Britain. He says that being under British control actually hindered America's progress and kept it from flourishing even more. Options A and B both give arguments for America needing Britain in order to thrive. In Option A it states that a connection with Britain is important for America to maintain its happiness. In Option B it compares America to a child. It states that if a child can survive on milk alone then it should never have meat. Therefore America should only need Britain. We can tell Paine sees this as preposterous, but this initial idea does not support the claim. Option D shows how America will always have commerce but Britain is only concerned with eating. This alone is not enough for strong evidence.

Choose examples of Igbo words from the novel and, in at least two hundred words, discuss the impact of those foreign words on to
djyliett [7]

Things Fall Apart illustrates many different aspects of Igbo culture. For one, it shows us on may occasions they way they view religion. They are polytheistic, which means they worship many gods. Their gods and goddesses govern different aspects of the world and daily life, such as the earth goddess, Ani.

Different rituals and customs go along with each god. We can see this in the week of peace, which is observed to honor Ani so she will bless the crops. In addition, some of the gods have Oracles. These are basically their mouthpiece on earth. The Oracles will sometimes be possessed by their god, and the god will speak through them and tell the clan what they need to do.

The novel also explores non-religious aspects of Igbo culture. For example, we see and hear about the different ceremonies and rituals that surround courtship and marriage. Men almost always have more than one wife, an important cultural aspect. We also see how the clan conducts aspects of war, and some of how they keep and enforce law and order. Over the course of the novel we get to see a wide array of different aspects of Igbo life and culture. Not sure if this is at least two hundred words but hope it helps.
