Answer:

Yesterday, Darius ran into his teacher at the grocery store and said, "Hey Mrs. Smith! I had an idea for the class project, and I wanted to get your approval." He was beyond excited to begin this project.

Mrs. Smith has always hated running into students outside of school. However, she knew she had to be nice. With the slightest bit of sarcasm, she responded, "Hello Darius. I'm glad you're enjoying English. What were you thinking about doing for the project?"

Darius was practically jumping up and down - he couldn't contain his excitement! Not noticing the sarcasm, he joyfully said, "Well, I really like cooking. I'm not really any good at it, but I think that if I choose gourmet cooking as my topic, I'll have the opportunity to learn more about a unique style of cooking."

Mrs. Smith couldn't even begin to understand why a seventeen-year-old boy would be this excited about school when he could be out getting into trouble with his friends. Isn't that what normal kids do? She thought to herself. As much as she wanted to ask him that, she instead agreed with him. "That sounds like a great idea Darius. I have a bottle of wine that's calling me home - it's been a long week," she laughed and proceeded with, "I'll see you in class Monday!" She waved to him and walked away while she silently wished she could just quit her stressful job and leave all of the annoying teenagers behind.

Answer:

Darius was beginning to start his project when he felt an insatiable hunger approach him, so despite knowing his project was due the next day he decided to go to the grocery store and buy a few snacks. Once arriving he noticed someone familiar nearby, and upon closer inspection, his stomach dropped as he realized it was his teacher. So to avoid his teacher he covers his face with his hands, unfortunately for Darius however he forgot that covering his face gets in the way of seeing. Inevitably he crashed into a wall, and if you thought things couldn't get worse, they did. Crashing into that wall caused a loud thud and grabbed the attention of his teacher who came closer to see what was going on, upon seeing Darius she completely forgot why she went there in the first place and immediately started to chat with Darius. After a few seconds chatting she asks, “So, how's your project going?", to which he responds, “it's been going pretty well!”, she replies with, “so what's your project about?”, and in an effort to make something up on the spot he sees a nearby butcher behind the deli and immediately says, “it's about Gourmet food!”, to which the teacher responds with “Very cool! I'm looking forward to it”, and they went their separate ways. After buying his snacks he immediately went home to finish his project and by sacrificing 7 hours of sleep he managed to finish it and managed to get a D on the project.

I'm not sure if this would be a good answer, but I had fun writing it and I thought it could help even if it's a little.

KonstantinChe [14]
The answer is "it leaves things uncertain."

This passage focuses on the mother's understanding; it does not focus on Imogen's inner thoughts or her love for the children.

However, it does not specifically explain the "many things" the mother thought when she looked away from her child's eyes. Therefore, it leaves these things uncertain.

Identify examples of the following rhetorical strategies in paragraph 13, and explain their effect___________.
ANEK [815]

Answer:

The answers are explained below. Paragraph 13 isn't available.

Explanation:

A rhetorical question is a question asked to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer, for example Is the pope Catholic? or Can fish swim?

Sentence variety refers to varying the length and structure of sentences in a composition to avoid monotony. Pacing is a stylistic device that shows how fast a story unfolds. Both can help the writer add emphasis to a specific part of the composition.

An analogy is a type of comparison between two things, usually to explain something, i.e. "as light as a feather."

An allusion is an expression to call something to mind, but it is not mentioned explicitly, for example, Don't be a Romeo, in reference to Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet."

An imperative sentence gives instructions or advice and expresses a suggestion, command, order, or direction. For example Don't do that!
