Mr. Bailey decides to do an experiment to see if different types of popcorn pop faster in the microwave. The TV commercials say

that popalicious is the fastest popping popcorn in the world. Mr. Bailey's hypothesis was, "if i pop jiffy pop, popalicious, and pop-tastic popcorn in a microwave, then the popalicious will pop faster because the commercial says so. "he takes jiffy pop, popalicious, and pop-tastic and places them each in the microwave for 2 minutes. After two minutes is up, he counts the number of popped kernels in the bag. After three trials, jiffy pop had an average of 256 popped kernels, popalicious had an average of 341 popped kernels, and pop-tastic had an average of 357 popped kernels. What is the independent variable in this experiment?

Answer:

popcorn

Explanation:

In this specific scenario, the independent variable would be the popcorn brand. This is simply because the popcorn itself does not depend on the microwave or any other factor of the experiment for better results. Instead, it is the microwave that depends on the popcorn brands to affect the overall outcome of how many kernels were popped. Therefore in this scenario, the microwave is the dependant variable while the popcorn is the independent variable.

irina1246 [14]

"A hospital alone shows what war is."

This sentence lets the reader be witness of the war cruelty and its consequences regarding human casualties. While being at hospitals you become aware of the war atrocities. It helps us to reflect that any war leads societies to suffering from death and destruction. No matter what the victims' race, sex, origin or religion are, what should be really important is that human beings are being devastated for those acts of cruelty, despotism and barbarism.

What makes Marlow different from other seamen?
Drupady [299]

Answer:

The correct answer is option A. He is a wanderer.

Explanation:

Referring to the book <em>"Heart of Darkness."</em>, we have a narrator named Charlie Marlow.

The main narrator describes him as someone similar to Buddha. He is someone who sees beyond what he really has in front. <u>He is not a simple seaman like the others</u>. He is an honest and intelligent person, detached from everything material.

The narrator even says it explicitly in the lines <em>“But Marlow was not typical, and to him the meaning of an episode was not inside like a kernel but outside  ...”</em> and also <em>“He did not represent his class”. </em>

The main narrator says that unlike the others seaman, Marlow did not lead a sedentary life, but was a wanderer. The way he told his story was very different from the simple way others did it.
