Direction: Read each item carefully. Choose the letter of the correct answer,
Debora [2.8K]

Answer:

1) b. tone

2) a. to intrigue

Explanation:

1. Tone: It is the attitude that the speaker conveys through a message.

Basically, the tone of a text expresses or reflects the mood of an author of a literary work and as such goes a long way to affect the countenance of the reader. Therefore, the tone being used by an author in a literary work such as articles, novels, stories etc., has the potential of evoking various emotions and shaping the perspective of a reader of the piece of writing.

Also, you should note that tone is a literary device in literature and simply does not mean the way people speak or pitch used by a speaker in contemporary english language.

For example, I'll hit you up at noon in your office tomorrow means I'll see you at your office tomorrow.

2. A prose can be defined as a form of oral language or literary work that do not have a metrical structure. Thus, it involves the natural flow of speech and ordinary grammatical structure.

The following are the main purpose of prose speech;

I. To persuade

II. To entertain.

What type of figurative language is the car chugged around the mountain
marissa [1.9K]

Chugged is the main word that should give it away. It is kind of exaggerating the car going up the mountain. I assume it would be a hyperbole.

Hope I helped!
