The west African state was influenced by the trans-sharan trade because west Africa contributed trade with the colonizers by trading gold, jewelry, and slaves in order to get weapons and salt from North America. Which made empires like Ghana, Mali, and Songhai wealthy. As well as Islam spreading to the sub-Saharan Africa which is west Africa.
