Read the excerpt from The Dark Game. On January 16, 1917, in a clear attempt to convince the Mexican government to help Germany

in the war, Arthur Zimmermann, the German foreign secretary, sent a telegram to Count von Bernstorff, the German ambassador in Washington. The foreign secretary wanted to be certain that this message reached von Bernstorff, so he made arrangements for it to be carried aboard a U-boat to Sweden and from there to Washington through diplomatic channels. Which statement best explains how the evidence from this excerpt leads to the inference that the message Zimmermann sent was important?

The excerpt that helps infere the evidence of awareness and importance of zimmerman's message is the one that states the type of action Zimmerman performed. When the excerpt says that he clearly wanted the mexican government to help germany in the war, he sent the telegram . This information is clear enough to see the importance of the message. remember the content is very straight and is not just a group of details without importance

This excerpt stands out for its tone of urgency. The statement where Zimmerman is clearly sending an urgent message to the Mexican Government shows that his message was clearly important, and he was desirous of the Mexican authorities to treat his telegram with priority. Germany was in a clear need for allies, and this telegram was one of the main reasons that made the United States abandon its stance of non-involvement in the First World War.

Further Explanation:

The Dark Game contains in it a series of espionage events that have been instrumental in changing the course of history. It discusses in broad detail how the system of espionage had developed throughout the course of history, and how important was the contribution of a proper network of spies in influencing important battle plans and diplomatic decisions. In this extract, the reports of the Zimmerman telegraph is being discussed, as it was a concerted plea on behalf of the German government to convince the Mexican Government to join the war against the United States.

Paul B. Zanecko in his book discusses the espionage system that developed in the United States over two centuries. He also talks about the various methods that spies use for communicating, for example, gestures, codes, and clothes to the modern age satellite images and drone surveillance. He begins at the importance of espionage at the American War of Independence by George Washington, to the contribution of an elaborate network of spies during the civil war, who was also engaged in sabotaging the movement of troops and reinforcements. The narrative continues to the modern and post-modern era of the World Wars, stretching all the way to the period of the Cold war years.
