After saying that sometimes a law is just on its face and unjust, Mr Knig passes on to say: "<span>For instance, I have been arrested on a charge of parading without a permit. Now, there is nothing wrong in having an ordinance which requires a permit for a parade. But such an ordinance becomes unjust when it is used to maintain segregation and to deny citizens the </span>First Amendment<span> privilege of peaceful assembly and protest." I that way the answer should be by describing a law about parade permits. </span>

6. How does the fur contribute to the theme of the story? The story is ""Miss Brill""
liubo4ka [24]

Answer:please see below for interpretation.

Explanation: In the short story written by Katherine Mansfield,

The fur contributes to the theme of the story by representing the character MIss Brill who keeps her fur in a dark box and brings it out only to use it on outings.

The fur accumulates dust since it rarely used, and returns back to its location by Miss Brill after use upon returning.. This dust accumulated by the fur signifies that fur is not constantly in use and does not come out of the box, Similar to the character herself who seldomy goes out, like the fur she leaves home for a bit and spends time only to watch others, eavesdrop on their conversations and then returns to her lonely, small , dark room away from the world as before she left to dwell in her loneliness.

Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

<em>A character feuding with a close friend. </em>

<em>A character living in a harsh environment. </em>

<em>A character being judged by the community. </em>

Explanation:

External conflict in a literary work refers to a fight or struggle between the main character and some outside force. An outside force means it is <u>outside the body</u> of the character. There are <em>three main types</em> of external conflict in literature:

  • <em>Character to character:</em> The most common one is the protagonist versus the antagonist, <em>a character feuding with a close friend</em> is an example of a character to character conflict.
  • Character versus society: This conflict refers to the main character struggling with social forces, examples of this conflict are<em> a character</em> <em>being judged by the community</em> and <em> a character living in a harsh environment,</em> when a harsh environment refers to the social environment he is surrounded by.
  • Character versus nature: When the protagonist struggles against forces of nature. An example can also be a <em>character living in a harsh environment</em>, when it refers to climate conditions.
