He claims that Ivan is a good servant and is very strong, but in addition to being deaf and dumb, he is wild and rude, this is the result of his race, since Ivan is a Cossack. He shows that despite being a cultured and well-educated man, he belongs to the same race as Ivan, which makes him a wild man, inside. This is proven throughout history.
