If you are referring to Nellie Bly, we can say that she responded to the judge's questions and comments in an accusatory and judgmental manner. That's because Nellie, she judged the judge's inability to determine whether a person was really crazy or not, doing the least of his job, which was analyzing facts. In addition, she reacted in an accusatory manner by stating that the judge does not listen to the defendant's defense, no matter how consistent the person appears, making it impossible for an innocent person to be released from a terrible fate in an asylum.
