In "Arrangement in Black and White," the reader can recognize that the woman is racist.

Even though the woman believes African-American musician, Walter Williams, is very talented, she can't help by stated that she is "untroubled" by the color of his skin. In her attempt to not sound racist, her constant comments stating she isn't, leads the reader to believe otherwise.

How would delivering a speech at a political rally differ from writing an academic paper, even if both the speech and the paper
Citrus2011 [14]
Well the target audiences are very different, because at the political party the speaker is trying to persuade the audience to agree with him/her where as the target audience for the academic paper are trying to tech their audience on the topic, also the thesis is more clearly stated in the academic paper.

How does the following lines contrast the point of view Of the batter and pitcher on the deciding pitch?
Sergio039 [100]

They show that the batter doesn't overthink the situation, but the pitcher is being picky.

In the Batter's line he says that he just reacts in the moment. This shows that he does not spend a lot of time thinking about the situation. It also shows that he may not be smarter about the situation. It doesn't show the batter is not prepared or that he knows how important it is. The pitcher doesn't think the call to throw a slider is a good choice so he shakes it off. His exclamation that none of the pitches will work shows his frustration over the choices. He is being picky and can't seem to agree on the type of pitch to throw.
