Answer:

"The Tell Tale Heart", a Gothic short story, written by Edgar Allan Poe contains many examples of juxtaposition in the story.

Explanation:

<em>"A juxtaposition is the contrast created, in a writing piece, by placing facts of two things close to each other."</em>

The <u>First juxtaposition</u> constructed by Poe in the short story can be seen in the opening paragraph where the protagonist is pictured both "nervous" and "calm" at the same time,

<em>"True!—</em><em>nervous</em><em>—</em><em>very, very dreadfully nervous</em><em> I had been and am; but why will you say that I am mad? The disease that sharpened my senses—not destroyed—not dulled them. Above all was the sense of hearing acute. I heard all things in the heaven and in the earth. I heard many things in hell. How, then, am I mad? Hearken! and observe how healthily—</em><em>how calmly I can tell you the whole story."</em>

The <u>Second juxtaposition</u> in the story can be found in the third paragraph, where the main character explains how he <em>"thrust" </em> his head into the old man's room then asserts that <em>"it took him hours to enter his head into the room."</em>

<em>"And then, when I had made an opening sufficient for my head, I put in a dark lantern, all closed, closed, that no light shone out, and </em><em>then I thrust in my head.</em><em> Oh, you would have laughed to see how cunningly I thrust it in! I moved it slowly --very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old man's sleep. </em><em>It took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening</em><em> so far that I could see him as he lay upon his bed."</em>

Which statement best explains the role of the tragic hero archetype in literature?
laila [671]

The statement that best explains the role of the tragic hero archetype in literature is the second one: the tragic hero’s role is to experience a downfall due to a personal flaw.

Aristotle describes the role of the tragic hero in his<em> Poetics</em>. He states that<u> the tragic hero is the main character of a tragedy, which also experiences a change of fortune from good to bad</u>. For that reason, he is the one whom the audience ends up feeling pity for. According to Aristotle, <u>this reversal of fortune is caused by a flaw in the character of the tragic hero</u>. <em>Hamartia</em> is another term used to refer to the main character's error. Two characters that can be considered tragic heroes are Oedipus and Creon, which are part of Sophocles' plays.

Select the sentence in which a word has been italicized incorrectly.
Mila [183]
Though there are no italicized words in any of the sentences. I would assume that the correct answers are either letter A or letter B.

In letter A, Washington Post, can be italicized to connote a name of the Newspaper in the sentence. In letter B, South Pacific, can be italicized to emphasize the title of the Broadway Musical in the sentence. Either A or B is the answer to your question.

miss Akunina [59]

Answer: C) first person point of view

Explanation: The first person point of view describes the narrator's perspective in Shania's diary because Shania relates her own story i.e the story was told from Shania's perspective. To justify this, we often see the words; "I, Me, We, Us" (grammatical first person) been used. Shania spoke alot about her self in the diary and also the events she experienced.
