Shane attended the Mayor's speech about parking rate increases, while Mary listened to the speech on the radio. Later, Mary said
Alex777 [14]

Answer:

The difference in the messages Mary and Shane received most likely resulted from the fact that Mary and Shane received the message through different channels.

Explanation:

There are essentially three types of communication: verbal, written, and nonverbal. They can be broken down into different channels. For instance, verbal communication can take place in person or through the phone.

In Mary and Shane's case, they both had access to verbal communication via different channels. Shane was there listening to the Mayor in person while Mary listened to the speech on the radio. That in itself might not have provoked different opinions in both listeners. But Shane was also given access to nonverbal communication. That is why he said, "the way the Mayor avoided looking at his constituents" is what made him think the Mayor supported an increase in rates. Eye contact is one of the channels for nonverbal communication. Since Mary did not have access to it, she could not have known better. Receiving the message through different channels is what caused the difference in interpretation by Mary and Shane.

Why do you think terenty Helped the orphans? what his role in the children?
Monica [59]

"A Day in the Country" narrates the story of Terenty. A homeless middle-aged man who earns a living by being a cobbler. He encounters Fyokla, a six-year-old beggar girl who asks him for help in aiding her cousin Danilka in getting her hand out of a hole in a tree.

Terenty decides to help the children, as they reminded him of himself when he was at a young age. He probably thought that aid would have come handy during that time an this is why he engages in generous efforts to help homeless children.

In a response of two to three sentences, explain how the action described in the following lines helps show Grendel as a monster
Amiraneli [1.4K]
The passage lists a few things which would lend towards the idea of him being a monster. First, it says "god's anger bare he." referring, presumably, to the abrahamic god famous for his wrath, showing that Grendel was exhibiting intense rage. Second, it uses the sentence "The monster intended some one of earthmen in the hall-building grand to entrap and make way with" which, while a written a little backwards by today's grammar rules, says that he is planning to take hold of and kidnap some of the men in the hall, something only a monster could do.
