1. The aristocracy was very opposed to a reformation in religion.

2, The Hierarchy of church of England did not want to be overthrown by the Puritans if they succeed in their goal for religious domination.

3. King James I brought the Millenary petition, a Puritan Manifesto in 1603. But had a different mind toward religious reformation, Which led him repressing the Puritan Movement during his rule.

4- King Charles was the son of the King James I and Queen Henrietta-Maria de Bourbon, who was a strong roman catholic and had no tolerance for Puritans. It was this influence that Kind Charles I also repressed the Puritan movement
