One conflict was in chapter 3 was when Tio Luis was threatining her mom to sell him their house, but she refused. Then he said I will let you stay with me, if you marry me. Her mom was disgusted, and they couldn't get any money because Tio Luis brother owned the bank. They were very powerful.

She said that David Rainey, an executive form British Petroleum, had assured the members of the Senate that the facility had no risk of a spill.

The other detail that supports the answer is that she wrote that the oil industry always had been aware of the dangers of spills but never has done so much to prevent them. Also, people like Robert Bea, an offshore engineer, had warned British Petroleum.
