The Huang He River got this nickname because of its annual floodings when large portions of the land around was under water and lots of people were losing their lives and homes.

The Huang He River is known for its floodings, in fact four of the biggest floodings in China's recorded history are cause by this river. The floods mostly occur because of the melting snows in the western part of the Himalayas, which bring in much bigger amount of water to the river and much more than what its riverbed can accumulate. Even nowadays the floods from this river are devastating to the Chinese people and many lose their lives and homes.

The Yellow/Huang He River easily floods. When it does flood, large farmlands in North China are destroyed and many die from hunger

You can see that the top 4 deadliest floods occurred on or around the Huang He.

Which claim is not defensible?
Lostsunrise [7]
<span>"The world would be better off if political boundaries didn't exist" is an indefensible claim. The others can be proven or at least debated over because at some point in time all of them have true and false. For instance, the majority of congress and the President have been from the same political party. Also, the majority of congress and the President have NOT been from the same political party. Therefore, you can compare the difference between true and false. Political boundaries have always existed. As a result, you cannot comfortably compare it to anything else.</span>

How did the tariffs controversy expose sectional differences between the North and South?
vitfil [10]

The correct answer is number 2) the North manufactured goods to sell mainly to the Southern states, but the South preferred imports.

The tariffs controversy exposed sectional differences between the North and the South in that the North manufactured goods to sell mainly to the Southern states, but the South preferred imports.

The Congress of the United States passed the Tariff 0f 1828 on May 19, in order to protect the production of goods in the country, specifically in the states of the North. But Southern states immediately opposed to the act, heading by South Carolina, that considered the decision as to the "Tariff of Abominations," because the act set a 38% tax of most imported good. This represented a negative impact on the economy of the Southern states.
