The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The cause for movement from river valley civilizations to early industrial centers was natural disasters such as floods or earthquakes as well as invasions from other city-states.

Early civilizations established next to rivers for the many advantages it represented. After many years of being nomads, humans learned agriculture techniques, settled in these places and started to grow crops during the Neolithic or Agriculture Revolution. One of the earliest or the earliest civilization registered by historians were the Sumerians. They settled in between the Rivers Tigris and Euphrates. Another important early civilization were the Egyptians that settled in next to the Nile River.

What is the problem that Friedan outlines?
xz_007 [3.2K]
Betty Friedan was an early leader of the feminist movement in the United States.  Her important book, published in 1963, argued that women in America were being misled into an unfulfilling and unhappy way of life.  They were made to believe that fulfillment and happiness as a woman came from being a wife, mother, homemaker.  But Friedan's studies of women showed that women were not happy just from that, that they were hungering for something else.  Their whole identity was coming from their roles or relationships to others in the home, not from who they actually were themselves.
Friedan's book challenged the existing patterns that existed in American society and pushed for women to have more of their own value for their own sake.  As she said (in chapter one):  "We can no longer ignore the voice within women that says, 'I want something more than my husband and my children and my home.'"

What was Gran Colombia? What hopes did Simon Bolivar have for this alliance?
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

Gran Colombia had a brief, vigorous existence during the war. Subsequent civilian and military rivalry for public office and regional jealousies led to a rebellion in Venezuela in 1826. After ruling as dictator from 1828 to 1830, Bolívar convoked a convention to frame a new constitution. It was recognized only in Nueva Granada (Colombia and Panama). Bolívar resigned and left for the northern coast, where he died, near Santa Marta, on December 17, 1830. By that time Venezuela and Ecuador had seceded from Gran Colombia. Thus Gran Colombia essentially passed into history with its principal architect.
