At first, the populist party view are alligned with the interest of the democratic party that wanted to improve taxes for companies and give more to the laborers.
But both parties started to be separated due to the radical nature of the populist party.

Democratic party at that time, wanted racial equality for all individuals. The populist party on the other hand, only follow what views are the most popular among the people in their area. This lead to occurences where many white populists started to appear that mostly came from southern states and create incongruency within the populist party itself.

The mainstream media actually helped significantly for the quick spreading out of this celebration and enormous and rapid gain of popularity. In a way, the mainstream media managed to made the DIa de los Muertos the trademark celebration of Mexico, as it is a celebration that is very marking, the people find it interesting, shocking, appealing, so naturally it attracted lot of popularity.
