<span>The Apayao region is a section of the Philippines. It is home to the Isnag people which are sometimes referred to as the Apayao people. This is a traditional tribal community and dances are performed to appease their gods. In most cases, the Apayao tribe does one of a series of cordilllera dances, which are complex and 'knotted' which is how they were described by the Spanish. These dances are a celebration of life, and the dance for the sick, is meant to help the ill person get better.</span>
