This question is based on the following passage. I was in the National Forest with my camera. The day was crisp, and the leaves

were turning gold and red. When I spotted the white-tailed buck, I froze. He wasn't more than 15 yards from where I was standing. The wind must have been right, because he kept on browsing the mossy ground. I lifted my camera very slowly. Carefully, holding my breath, I lifted the camera to my eye. Turning the focus ring, I framed the deer's head. Just as I was ready to press the shutter release, the buck raised his head. He was looking my way with wide eyes. Click. I took the picture. An instant later, the deer bounded away into the forest. He took off, but I had the shot. Today, the framed photo of that buck hangs above our fireplace. What season of the year is implied by the words you read in the passage? A. Spring B. Summer C. Winter D. Fall

Answer:

D. Fall

Explanation:

Based on this description, we can tell that the day the author is describing is a day in the fall. We can see this due to various reasons. We learn that the leaves that were found in the forest were turning gold and red. This is usually a clear sign of fall. Moreover, we can also see that the day is described as "crisp." A crisp day is one that is slightly cool. These details contribute to developing the idea that the day being described happened in the fall.

D. Fall is implied. The leaves turning gold and red is the biggest cue, as this only happens in fall. Other clues include 'crisp' (chilly, but not snow-cold).

Read the sentence.
Papessa [141]

Answer:

The correct answer is "two-thirds".

Explanation:

In English, we use "hyphen" (punctuation mark) to join two or more words. These should not be confused with "dashes", who are a longer punctuation mark and have other uses like separate explanatory phrases.

Hyphens are used to join words or terms to avoid confusions and they are written with no space between them and the words. In some cases, they are used to preserve the text's clarity: when adding a prefix (great-grandmother) or when the final and initial letters coincide (co-operate).

In this specific case, "two-thirds" is a fraction, so the hyphens are used to let know the relation between these two words instead of reading them as separated numbers.

crimeas [40]

Answer: 1. incorrect explanation construction, 2. split infinitive 3. dangling construction 4. poor parallel structure

Explanation:

1.uses is when or is where matches with incorrect explanation construction

2.occurs when an adverb or other word is placed between to and the verb matches with split infinitive

3. does not clearly connect to the word or phrase for which it was intended matches with dangling construction

4. uses dissimilar grammatical constructions matches with poor parallel structure

1. Incorrect explanation construction matches with when or where because those are the words used when it comes to incorrect explanation of some construction in the sentence. Incorrect tenses are one of the usual issues when it comes to grammar.

2. When we have in the sentences 'to' places between verb and adverb that is making a split infinitive. For example, We were told to read each book correctly.

3. Dangling construction is considering group of modifier words instead of noun or phrase in the sentence. The modifier is used to describe a noun or phrase.

4. When it comes to parallel structure, there are sentences that have the same or equivalent meaning but they are not similar grammatically and that is why it is called dissimilar construction.
