Question 1: Read the following passage on speaking, and identify all the pronouns. Indicate whether each is personal, interrogat

ive, indefinite, demonstrative, possessive, or relative.
What is the value of clear speaking? Is yours as clear as it can be? Everyone knows clear speaking is important for success in every kind of business, and that it is important in interactions with relatives and friends. Anyone who will study and practice good speaking for a reasonable time can acquire the skill. These are some of the things that you should keep in mind if you would like to improve yours. Good speaking depends, first of all, on correct breathing. What is “correct breathing”? In time you will come to breathe correctly without giving it thought, for “correct” is whatever is easiest and most natural for each of us.

Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

a. It produces shivers down the spine, or a feeling of unease.

Explanation:

Washington Irving's "The Adventure of the Mysterious Picture" is a gothic story where the characters staying in the house were talking, sharing stories of haunted places. And the host of the house had 'in jest' said that one of the rooms was haunted, so the her of the nigh will be revealed the next morning after they had all spent their nights in their own allotted rooms.

The passage in the question gives the details of the narrator's room. he had seen a picture hanging in his allotted room and had been unable to ignore it. He felt all sorts of uneasiness, unable to even sleep properly, constantly thinking there's someone hovering above him. The tone of the passage gives us a feeling of horror, sending shivers down the spine, making us feel uneasy. This passage makes it possible that the room was indeed haunted, making even us, the readers, scared of what will happen and what really is the picture about. It spreads a feeling of uncomfortable, and scared feeling in the narrator and the readers altogether.

Can forgiveness play a role in criminal justice (commonlit)
Mazyrski [523]

4. D. Andy was shocked and horrified to hear the details of how Ann was killed and felt her loss more deeply.

5. C. “‘Hearing Conor,’ he said, ‘I made sounds I’ve never heard myself make. To hear that your daughter was on the floor saying ‘no’ and holding her hands up and still be shot is just — it’s just not...’ He tried to explain the horror of such knowledge, but it’s not easy.” ( Paragraph 92)

This evidence best proves the answer to question #4 and explains why #4 is correct. In option C, it specifically states Andy's reaction to Conor's account of Ann's murder. Listening to Conor tell about how Ann was on the floor and saying, "no" while she was helpless to stop him, horrified and shocked Andy. The narrator specifically says that the horror of the knowledge was hard for him to explain.

Which sentence best explains how the tone reveals the narrator’s perspective?
katen-ka-za [31]

Answer:

A). The narrator is frightened because she is Muslim making a Catholic confession.

Explanation:

The tone is described as the approach or attitude of the author towards a particular subject matter reflected through the choice of words or language employed. It serves to provide the audience with a perspective or viewpoint to consider or look at a particular text and enhances their curiosity to read and evoke the desired feeling or response that the author intends to invoke.

As per the question, the sentence that best reveals how the tone discloses the author's attitude/perspective is displayed through option A as the description 'frightened...Muslim making a Catholic confession' reflects the author's perspective towards portraying the strict religious beliefs and terror associated with it(being declared as a heretic). Thus, option A is the correct answer.
