Sharp lines, shapes with lots of corners, etc., leave a viewer on edge. They can be used to represent harsh emotions such as anger or hate because those are sharp feelings.
Steady patterns of lines, such as waves like an ocean, create a sense of calm because patterns mean order, and order is commonly associated with calm.
Angkor Wat is the prime example of the classical style of Khmer architecture the Angkor Wat style to which it has given its name. By the 12th century Khmer architects had become skilled and confident in the use of sandstone (rather than brick or laterite) as the main building material.
The preffered material from which Etruscans made their sculptures is terra cotta. Marble was also used to make sculptures. Bronze was rarely but used to make sculptures, so stone in my opinion was the material that wasn't used to make sculptures.
