The right answer is a. poetry.

Scops were professional poets that brought the epic poems to life. Playing harp, the scop would chant in a clear voice that carried over the shouts and laughter of the crowd, captivating them for hours on end with tales of courage, high drama, and tragedy. These epic poems were an oral art form: memorized and performed, not written down. Later, literacy spread through Britain, and poems were more likely to be recorded. Thus, only a fraction of Anglo-Saxon poetry has survived, in manuscripts produced centuries after the poems were originally composed.

An air mass changes _____.
nikklg [1K]

The correct answer is C, as an air mass changes the weather of the area over which it moves.

An air mass is defined as a large portion of air, with a horizontal extension of several hundred kilometers, whose physical properties, especially temperature, moisture content and vertical temperature gradient, are more or less uniform.

Between two air masses fronts are formed, which can have different temperatures.

The cold front is a band of instability that occurs when a mass of cold air approaches a hot air mass. The cold air, being more dense, generates a "wedge" and gets under warm and less dense air.

The cold fronts move quickly. They are strong and can cause atmospheric disturbances such as thunderstorms, squalls, tornadoes, strong winds and short snowstorms before the cold front passes, accompanied by dry conditions as the front advances.

The warm front is the front of a warm air mass that moves to replace a cold air mass. Generally, with the passage of the warm front the temperature and humidity increase, the pressure drops and although the wind changes it is not as pronounced as when a cold front passes.

An occluded front is formed when a slower moving hot front is followed by a cold front with faster displacement. The cold wedge-shaped front reaches the hot front and pushes it upwards. The two fronts continue moving one behind the other and the line between them is what forms the occluded front.

Finally the stationary front is a limit between two air masses, of which none is strong enough to replace the other.

Think about the ending of “A Retrieved Reformation.” What can you infer about Ben Price’s opinion of Jimmy Valentine? Does bin P
juin [17]

Answer:

“A Retrieved Reformation”

1. At the beginning of the story, Ben Price rightly thinks that the bank robberies under investigation are committed by Jimmy Valentine, because they bear his signature style.

2. Towards the end of the story, Ben Price's opinion changed completely.  Despite Jimmy Valentine's changed identity, Ben Price, correctly recognized Jimmy Valentine after the latter confirmed his true identity by unknowingly demonstrating his stylish ingenuity by opening the locked door.  Since, Jimmy Valentine decided to surrender himself for arrest, Ben Price must have concluded that Jimmy was actually a changed man, especially now that he had fallen in love with Annabel.

Explanation:

O. Henry, the author of “A Retrieved Reformation” published the short story in 1903.  The story narrated how an ex-convict, who was wanted for a series of bank robberies, suddenly repented and relinquished the life of crime because he had fallen in love with a woman.

AveGali [126]

Answer:

The correct option described second is <em>"The tone is the same, but the word choice is less formal, probably for a  younger reading audience."</em>

Explanation:

Replacing <em>"of the Victorian era"</em> with <em>"during a period of time known as the Victorian era" </em>shows less formality and a bit more explanation for younger readers.

Also <em>"distinguished" </em>is replaced with <em>"respected"</em> which is less formal and easier to be understood by younger readers.

The replacement of <em>"Her  poetry influenced ..... and Emily Dickinson"</em> in first version with this long sentence <em>"Her poetry  was very  ............. by Ms. Browning"</em>  in second version reduces formality to make it easier to understand for younger audience.
