A study is being done to test the affects of habitat space on the size of fish populations. different sized aquariums are set up

with six goldfish in each one. over a period of six months, the fish are fed the same type and amount of food. the aquariums are equally maintained and cleaned throughout the experiment. the temperature of the water is kept constant. at the end of the experiment the number of surviving fish are surveyed.

Although not specified, I am assuming that you want to identify the different variables and groups of this case. To answer this, the different typical factors that make up an experimental set up include: 1) dependent and 2) independent variables; 3) controlled variables; as well as the 4) control and 5) experimental group.

The dependent variable in this case is: the size of the population. While the independent variable is: the habitat space. Controlled variables in this experiment include: type and amount of food, cleanliness of the aquarium, and water temperature. The experimental group are simply the fish being observed. There are no controlled groups in this case depending on your definition. Controlled groups are usually the reference point or standard in experimental setups but this experiment wants to look at the differences of the goldfish with each other and not necessarily to a one particular goldfish and hence no controlled group.

The dependent variable is called as such because it is the one that changes depending on the factors given and is usually the one being observed. The independent variable is named as such because it remains the same throughout the experiment.

The selection of dependent, independent, and controls in the experiment are number of fishes that survived, different sized aquariums, and negative controls are the maintenance, food, water temperature, respectively.

Further Explanation:

A dependent variable defines as the variable which is being tested as well as measured in the scientific experiment. This variable is known to be dependent on the independent variable. In this case, the size of the population is the dependent variable.

The independent variable refers to that variable that is altered or controlled in a scientific experiment in order to check the effects on the dependent variable. In this case, habitat space is an example of this variable

Lastly, a controlled variable refers to the variable which is constant and it is unchanged throughout the course of the experiment. In this case, type, as well as amount of food, cleanliness of aquarium as well as water temperature, are controlled variables.

At the end of the experiment there are no controlled sets in this and these sets are usually known to be the reference point in experimental setups.

What similarities, if any, do you think exist between a human’s reproductive cycle and the life cycle of a fern? What difference
ipn [44]

Answer:

Plant Reproduction and Life Cycle. The life cycle of a plant is very different from the life cycle of an animal. Humans are made entirely of diploid cells (cells with two sets of chromosomes, referred to as ''2n''). ... Plants, however, can live when they are at the stage of having haploid cells or diploid cells.

Explanation:

In an animal life cycle, male and female parents each create sex cells (sperm and eggs) that unite to form a fertilized egg and develop into an offspring organism. Plants, likewise, have sperm and eggs in their life cycles, but these are produced by an intermediate stage between the adult and the offspring.

Which ingredients are needed to transform NADP+ to NADPH?
Gnesinka [82]

Answer: Two electrons and a hydrogen ion

Explanation: The light reactions use solar power to reduce NADP+ to NADPH by adding a pair of electrons along with a hydrogen nucleus, or H The light reactions also generate ATP by powering the addition of a phosphate group to ADP, a process called photophosphorylation.

The ATP that is generated in glycolysis is produced by substrate-level phosphorylation, a very different mechanism than the one
Lostsunrise [7]

Answer:

TP synthesis in glycolysis: substrate-level phosphorylation

Explanation:

-One of the substrates is a molecule derived from the breakdown of glucose

-An enzyme is required in order for the reaction to occur

-A bond must be broken between an organic molecule and phosphate before ATP can form.

Incorrect:

-The phosphate group added to ADP to make ATP comes from free inorganic phosphate ions.

-The enyzmes involved in ATP synthesis must be attached to a membrane to produce ATP.

The building blocks of nucleic acids are ________.
jeyben [28]

Answer: The correct answer is nucleotide.

Explanation:

Nucleic acids are the polymer of nucleotides which are attached with each other with the help of phospho-diester bonds.

Nucleotide consists of sugar (ribose in RNA and deoxyribose in DNA), phosphate group, and nitrogenous base (A, T, G, and in DNA; and A, U, G, and C in RNA).
