1. Cortes' motives to write about Tenochtitlan is very political in nature. Cortes is known to be a conquistador and it is in his great interests to have some form of power in this discovery. Seeing how wealthy Tenochtitlan is, he is awed and impressed at all the rare sights. He wrote embellished letters about Tenochtitlan to Charles the V to encourage the kingdom to conquer this great Aztec empire and probably provide him a very suitable rank or position as its discoverer.

2. He chose to write topics about food, houses, shops, and temples because it is what became prominent to him when he visited. These are the sights that he wants to enthrall the king with.

3. Ultimately, Cortes' intended audience is the King. King Charles the V is the one he wants to reach through his letters in high hopes that the king will be moved to conquer the Aztec empire of Tenochtitlan.

Which of the following was not reaffirmed by the Council of Trent?
kow [346]

The correct option is: "that only the Catholic Church had the authority to interpret the Bible"

The Council of Trent was an ecumenical council of the Catholic Church developed in discontinuous periods during twenty-five sessions between the years 1545 and 1563.

Although it did not manage to reunite the Christianity, the Council of Trento supposed for the Catholic Church a deep catharsis.

It was convened in response to the Protestant Reformation to clarify various doctrinal points. It also abolished the local eucharistic rites, respecting only those that had more than two centuries of antiquity (Mozarabic rite, Lyons rite, Ambrosian rite) and established the rite of the city of Rome known as Tridentine Mass, as a rite of the entire Latin church . From a doctrinal point of view, it is one of the most important and influential councils in the history of the Catholic Church.

On the other hand, the reform of ecclesiastical administration and discipline was addressed. The council eliminated many flagrant abuses, such as the sale of indulgences or the education of clerics, and forced the bishops to reside in their bishoprics, thereby preventing the accumulation of charges.

Which of the following events could have occurred as a human survival strategy during the last ice age ?
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Earliest humans to live in Europe were able to survive the last Ice Age period that was a characterized by ferocious change in the climate that covered the continent in a thick layer of ice. Stone age blacksmiths during this period survived through the masterly and use of fire to make tools as a survival strategy while old cultures died and new ones emerged over thousands of years, where the hunter-gatherer populations ebbed and flowed. The hunting of animals and gathering of wild fruit and berries eventually led to adoption of pastoral, farming cultures that arrived in Europe from the Middle East around 8,000 years ago.
