Use the following magazine article excerpt to answer the question. Did Ronald Reagan’s approach to economics work? Would the sam

e approach work today? Nearly thirty-five years after former President Reagan launched an attack on government spending and taxation, people are wondering if the same approach could be applied in light of today’s circumstances. During Reagan’s term, inflation was indeed suppressed. The tax cuts did seem to impact and proceed the end of the recession. But, the government didn’t stop spending. In fact, the federal debt grew nearly tripled while Regan was in office. Supply-side economics proposes that when the supply of money, labor and services increase economic growth will naturally follow. I would say young children.
a student of economics could learn from this article
-people who are funded by government grants shouldn't be effected. At least it doesn't say anything about that being effected
-young children probably would not want to read this
so that means that the intended audience is not young children

Which of these sentences should Nancy add at the beginning of the second paragraph (sentences 7-15) to serve as the most
stich3 [128]

The sentence that Nancy should add at the beginning of the second paragraph to serve as the most effective position statement for her essay is C. We spend way too much time during the week ...

 • A position statement is the writer's or speaker's viewpoint, claim, or thesis clearly stated after the introductory paragraph. It may also come at the end of the first paragraph or sometimes at the beginning of the second paragraph.

 • It clearly states the unequivocal position that the author has taken on the topic. It is then interwoven with reasons and evidence to support the stated position.

 • The major characteristics of a position statement are:
 1. It is simple and clear.
 2. It is memorable and tailored to achieve result.
 3. It is credible, focused, and supported with reasons.

Thus, a position statement does not create ambivalence and ambiguity like options A, B, and D but is well-supported with reasons like option C.
