The correct answer is - D. Held absolutely and by divine right.

In both of these ancient empires/dynasties the rulers were not elected, but instead they had the throne as a given because they were born in the family that ruled the empire/dynasty. They had the absolute power over everything in their respective empires/dynasties, but it's interesting that they were also considered as divine creatures, like Gods even.

List three things that the Mormons did to turn the wild, dry terrain into a prosperous place.
Lerok [7]

The Mormon pioneers were known as very hard working and industrious people. They were very well organized and had great faith that God was on their side and therefore they could succeed. From their struggles, they learned to work together to survive. Immediately after they arrived, they plotted out a city and began digging irrigation lines from mountain streams to the valleys below. Crops were planted before homes were built.

People were organized into companies to settle various areas which would produce different items based on the climate - those sent to southern Utah grew cotton and raised silkworms; Northern Utah was ideal for dairy farming; Central Utah had areas for mining and timber. They worked together to build homes, often many families would share a small cabin until more could be built. Because timber was hard to find and nails were extremely rare, they made do with what they had, making adobe homes and lashing wood frames together with hides.

Rather than become dependent on expensive shipments from the East, they made their own materials (including yarn and fabric!) and sold the excess to those traveling further west to California and Oregon. It took a lot of faith and hard work, but the Mormon pioneers turned what was practically a barren wasteland into a thriving and prosperous place.

What weapons did the Aztec use? What weapons and other means of defense did the Spanish use?
Llana [10]
The most common weapon of the Aztec was the spears that were known to pierce Spanish armor and were sharp enough that warriors could use them to shave. Another name for their spears was, tepoztopilli. Aztec warriors also used bows & arrows, darts, clubs as well. The Spanish used allies they had made by force or persuasion. The fact that Moctezuma believed Cortés to be a reincarnated god also helped with aiding the Spanish in entering Tenochtitlan. The Spanish uses guns, swords, and cannons as their weapons in the fight against the Aztec but, their greatest weapon proved to be the Small pox virus which they brought to the new world from Europe. Since small pox had been around for a while in Europe, most Europeans had developed and immunity to it but still carried the virus. The Aztecs had never been exposed to the virus so within a number of weeks, a large percent of the Aztec population had been wiped out by the virus.
