The English public, now consuming some eighteen pounds of sugar a year, knew little about the lives of the enslaved Africans who

se labor sweetened their meals. Worse yet, every Englishman who hammered the wood, sewed the sails, manufactured the rope for slave ships, or built the barrels to hold slave-harvested sugar made his money from the slave trade. The English were getting richer because Africans were being turned into property. Clarkson and others who believed as he did, who in the coming decades would be called abolitionists, realized that while that link gave the English a stake in slavery, it also gave the antislavery forces an opportunity. If they could reverse the flow—make the horrors of slavery visible to those who benefited from it—they might be able to end the vile practice forever.
–Sugar Changed the World,
Marc Aronson and Marina Budhos

The answer is:

4. “While that link gave the English a stake in slavery, it also gave the antislavery forces an opportunity.”

In the excerpt from "Sugar Changed the World," the authors make clear that the same sugar trade that had started slavery also gave abolitionists like Clarkson the chance to end it. The antislavery movement considered that making the abhorrence of enslavement evident to those who obtained a financial advantage from it might make such system come to an end.

Why did Churchill replace Chamberlain as Britain's new prime minister shortly after World War II began?
Natasha2012 [34]

There should have been options to choose from for this question. I found the options elsewhere and the correct answer would be because Churchill had a better understanding of the situation with Hitler than Chamberlain did.

Churchill knew that diplomacy would not work with Hitler and the only way to reach a resolution was through military force and tactics.

amid [387]

Answer:

Nowhere man.

Explanation:

John's lyrics are somewhat autobiographical and introspective on this 1965 song that features brilliant harmonies throughout and lyrics that offer help to the forlorn listener. It is the song titled "Nowhere man."

John Winston Lennon was an English singer and songwriter, he was born on the 9th of October, 1940 in Liverpool, England. Unfortunately, he was assassinated by Mark David Chapman and died on the 9th of December, 1980 in New York, United States of America.

John formed his first band named "The Quarrymen" which later became "The Beatles" band in 1960 with the world famous James Paul Mccartney.

On the 21st of October, 1965 John recorded the song titled "Nowhere man" with his Beatles band in their sixth (6) studio album titled "Rubber soul." The rendition of Nowhere man was done in a three-part harmony by John, Paul and Harrison while John and Harrison played the lead guitar solo in unison.

Nowhere man was the first song which was unrelated to love, relationships or romance to be recorded and released by The Beatles. Apparently, the song was about John or simply put, the song was somewhat autobiographical, philosophical and introspective as it was written in first person.

Here's an excerpt from the song;

[Verse 1]

\\He's a real nowhere man.

\\Sitting in his nowhere land.

\\Making all his nowhere plans for nobody.

Which section of the "volcanoes" page of the Ready.gov website cautions people to be aware of mudflows?
lorasvet [3.4K]

The section of the "volcanoes" page of the Ready.gov website that cautions people to be aware of mudflows is During .The correct answer is D.

On the third point of do's they say and I quote "Avoid areas downwind, and river valleys downstream, of the volcano. Rubble and ash will be carried by wind and gravity.", this can be represented by mudflows.

There are no other parts in the page that talk about that so the other options cannot be correct since they are talking about incorrect segments of information.
