Refer to Explorations in Literature for a complete version of this speech. Which excerpt from Jefferson Davis’s speech to the Mi

ssissippi Legislature best expresses a major theme of the speech? “Mississippi gave me in my boyhood to her military service.” “Now, as in 1851, I hold separation from the Union by the State of Mississippi to be the last remedy—the final alternative.” “He seeks to alarm his auditors by assuring them of the purpose on the part of the South and the Democratic to force slavery upon all the States of the Union. “ "I have an abiding faith that any law which violates our constitutional rights, will be met with a veto by the present Executive."

The excerpt from Jefferson Davis' speech to the Mississippi Legislature that best expresses a major theme of the speech is: “Now, as in 1851, I hold separation from the Union by the State of Mississippi to be the last remedy—the final alternative.”

Jefferson Davis loves Mississippi, and throughout the speech he praises the State that saw him grow into a man. It is due to this very love that he strongly believes (and this particular speech is not the first time he states it) that Mississippi should separate from the Union. The excerpt quoted clearly states his main idea in the speech at hand.

Wild Peaches by Elinor Wylie

The line “We’ll swim in milk and honey till we drown” depicts an abundance of supply of food or about prosperity in general. On the other hand, the line “The spring begins before the winter’s over” suggests an ideal weather where winter is short-lived and fair weather is always enjoyed. Finally, the line “We shall live well — we shall live very well” promises a good and comfortable life. Thus, readers expect that life at the Eastern Shore is everybody’s dream life: complete, perfect and ideal.

Answer: I have more than two, let me know if you want more

1. ORGANIZE AND PLAN

-Have a story outline (but feel free to change it). Have a structure of the story in mind or on the page. Go through your notes and flag the parts you’ll want to use, whether it’s quotes or key points.

2. Write your lead last. It sometimes stumps writers, the body is more important

3.If you have multiple stories due, prioritize their writing as to your inspiration. For example, if your brain feels sluggish, write the simple, =story first to warm up. But if you're feeling poetic and the caffeine is kicking in, write the more difficult story before the energy and inspiration leave you.

4.Set yourself a deadline earlier than the publication's deadline.
