one that presents well-organized and synthesized facts that demonstrate how cell phone use negatively affects learning

The prompt of the essay states that the essay must be research-based. This eliminates options D, because an essay based on research is not one that entertains using humor even if it does contain facts. Also, this eliminates option C because a research-based essay should not just be based on Kimi's opinion. The statement she is required to prove is that cell phone use is detrimental to student learning. This eliminates option B because option B explains how cell phone use can be positive and negative - not just negative. Option A is the only option because it is designed to prove the statement correct as well as use research-based facts to back it up.
