The Sonoran Desert route was his favorite. His friends were surprised he could endure the solitude of it, but he cherished the b

arren miles. Today he’d passed a mile of verbena in full bloom, followed by ten miles with nothing but sagebrush. The next leg promised cliffs, and he loved to imagine scaling them as he traversed the desolate highway. In fact, one was rising in the distance, and the highway would bear right around it. He looked down to cool the temperature, looked up again, and stared. The grill of a tractor trailer, in his lane, was bearing down upon him.

It provides a “single powerful spectacle” for the imagination’s eye.

Further Explanation:

The Danse Macabre which is also known by the name of Dance of Death and it is a genre of allegory from the later stages of the middle age century on the universality of death and according to this, no matter what one’s situation is in the life, the Danse Macabre unites everyone. This consists of the dead or an incarnation of death which summons representatives from almost all the walks of life to dance along to the grave and it was produced as a memento mori in order to make people aware of a fragility of life.

The earliest known recorded visual example of the Danse Macabre is the lost mural on the south wall and that is available on the southern wall of the cemetery of the holy innocents from Paris and it was painted in the year 1425 during the rule of John, Duke of Bedford. So, in all, Danse Macabre provides readers a ‘Single Powerful Spectacle’ for the imagination eye.

Discuss how these excerpts from the play help to illustrate the theme of morality versus law in Antigone.
Verizon [17]

In both of the excerpts presented above from the play we can see the theme of morality being compared to the law in Antigone. It gives the conflict of Moral or Divine law versus Human law. Pride is also another theme that can be found in Antigone when we see men creating laws that substitute for divine principles, believing they are made from divine will.

I hope it helps, Regards.
