Answer:

B.

Explanation:

"The World Without Us" is a non-fiction novel written by Alan Weisman. The book themes on nature without human beings.

In Chapter 3 of the book namely, "The City Without Us", the author takes an example of the city of New York. He illustrates what would happen to the city of New York after such times and how nature will take over the city and rebuild the native vegetation.

He talks about the New York Botanical Garden, which is spread across the Bronx Zoo in the area of 250 acres. In this garden is the virgin New York forest. The forest is spread across the area of 40 acres. The author foretells what would happen if this forest would never be cut off and logged, how the fungus and diseases would take over and make the vegetation grow vast in the area.

"the tenant men scuffed home to the farms through the red dust." Which sentence best describes Steinbeck's diction here?
lesantik [10]
The diction of Steinbeck here in apparently describing the dustbowl conditions of the Dirty Thirties is speaking of "tenant men" or presumably men who were tenant farmers perhaps who were allowed to live on the land in return for working it and that they "scuffed" their way home indicates that the dust was so thick they had to scuff but also perhaps that since they could barely make a living under the poor agricultural conditions they did not walk confidently but scuffed.

Lemur [1.5K]

Answer: Sean is not an effective speaker because he is disrespectful of others.

Although passion and decisiveness are important when fighting for a cause you care about, being disrespectful is not a good quality. When someone uses forceful language or interrupts, he is not letting others listen to counterclaims. This is a big problem as it limits the exchange of ideas. Moreover, someone who is disrespectful can be intimidating, which reduces everybody's participation in the debate.
