Why did pope john paul say the church's treatment of galileo was wrong

History

Well, the whole reason why Galileo had been treated so badly by the Catholic Church was because his findings contradicted the established Church canon. Galileo was questioning the Church, and, therefore, the Pope. And the Pope was seen as God's representative on Earth. So, for Galileo to question the Pope, it was like he was questioning God, and that's a big no-no with the Catholic Church.

Later, Pope John Paul admitted that the Church's treatment of Galileo had been unfair. That, in doing so, the Church had attempted to censor science itself. And you don't censor science!

Cause that's just not cool :)

How did president Nixon and the u.s Supreme Court clash on school segregation?
andrey2020 [161]
Nixon enforced the Brown v. Board of Education ruling from 1954 which declared segregating school unconstitutional.

Nixon created a task force to desegregate the schools still segregated in the South. By the end of Nixon's presidency only a few schools were left segregated. In this way, Nixon supported the Court and enforced their decision regarding school segregation.

Which of the following is the best example of populism
Over [174]

Answer: Populism from the Latin word "Populus," which in translation would mean the people.

Explanation:

Similar to the notion of democracy, populism implies a rule that is in the service of the people. It is the opposite of government, which includes in its interest group a small group of people whose interests are defended, which is the case with aristocracy and plutocracy. And if they are similar synonyms, democracy today implies positive connotations in public, while populism is taken in the context of the negative.

This is because the strategy of populism is based on using the sensibilities of society, their essential life issues for political purposes. For example, it is possible to take two groups, which are separated by different antagonisms. On the one hand, it is an ordinary people and on the other a corrupt elite who argue that politics should be an expression of the will of the people

Explain how Radical Reconstruction illustrated the continued conflict between contract and compact political theories
Brut [27]

Radical  Reconstruction illustrated the conflict between contract and compact political theory because it revolved around the relationships that should exist between states and the federal government. Contract theory establishes the primacy of the  social contract constructed between human beings. The best example of a social contract is the U.S. Constitution, which provides specific guidelines regarding the relationship between states and the federal government.  Compact theory argues that the federal government emerges from the states. In any conflict, the states would be the final arbiter of the outcome. This debate was at the center of discussions regarding the amount of control the federal government could assert in relationship to restoring the Confederate states to the union, drafting and passage of  the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, and asserting federal control over the former Confederate states.
