Answer:

1. Honest

2. Introverted

5. Bitter

6. Compassionate

8. Distrustful

Explanation:

The character of Silas Marner is from the novel <em>"Silas Marner of Raveloe"</em> by George Elliot. It tells the misfortunes and life of the title character Silas Marner, but who eventually gets justice, though in a different form.

Silas had been falsely accused of stealing money from the parish, which eventually ruined his life. His fiance left him, marrying his friend William instead who was the real thief. The casting of lots to see who the culprit is and also the betrayal by his friend William led to his loss of faith in man and God. Then, he moved out of Raveloe, where he lived aloof. Eppie, an orphaned daughter of Godfrey and his secret wife Molly came to him and lived with him after her mother's death. In the end, Silas got Eppie as his daughter and got blessed, in a different way, a sort of redemption. The thief was found, the truth about Godfrey revealed, and his former place of Lantern Yard becoming nothing in the end. Throughout the story, the qualities that Silas shows are honesty, introvert, bitter, compassionate and also distrustful.

On page 4 why does the author refer to the underground passages filled with boiling water as the geysers plumbing system
Finger [1]

Answer:

Water travels through the passages in a manner that is similar to water flowing through pipes in a plumbing system.

Explanation:

In the passage, the author has compared the geysers' plumbing system with the underground water-filled boiling water as the movement of the water in passages are similar to the course of water through pipes in the plumbing systems.

The writer in this passage is talking about the fickleness of the geysers. The writer supports it by saying that this fickleness is because of the frequent changes that an underground passage goes through, which is filled with boiling water.

<u>The current of water in both the passages and the pipes are similar, this is why the writer used the reference of 'geysers plumbing system.'</u>

Thus the correct answer is the second option.
