Hello!

The answer is: D. "Places and regions" and "Human systems"

Why?

There are 6 six essential elements of geography. The geography is known as a science that deals with the distribution, description, and interaction of aspects like cultural, physical and biological.

Geography is not just mapping, in fact, geography does not just study physical aspects of the environment. There are six essential elements studied by the geography:

1 - The world in spatial terms:

 • Deals with the way we use geographic representations like maps.
 • Relates the spacial terms with people, places, and environments.
 • Deals with the spatial distribution of people around the earth's surface.

2 - Places and Regions:

 • It's related to the particular physical and human characteristics of the places, creating a relationship between the people and the environment, cultural and political aspects.

3 - Physical Systems:

 • It's more related to the spacial/physical distribution of the different ecosystems on the earth.

4 - Human systems:

 • It's related to human factors like distribution, migration, characteristics on the earth.
 • The characteristics of population conflicts, economic patterns, and cultural aspects.

5 - Environment and society:

 • It relates the human society characteristics to the environment, with information about how humans affect physical environments and the opposite.
 • The interaction between the society and the environmental resources distribution, uses and exploitation.

6 - Uses of geography:

 • Studies the physical environments changes in order to know about the past characteristics and how the environment will change in the future.

k0ka [10]
Fresh water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and as salinity increases, the required temperature to freeze decreases. The freezing point for water at 18 0/00 is 30.233 degrees Fahrenheit. So, for the black sea to freeze, it would need to be less than about thirty and a quarter degrees in both areas. Further for the Adriatic not to freeze it must be assumed that the Adriatic's salinity is higher, probably significantly higher as to avoid even partially freezing. Furthermore, as the Black Sea's decreased salinity is attributed to nearby freshwater runoff, it is safe to assume that the Adriatic Sea either A) Has little or no freshwater runoff, or B) Has a mitigating factor that negates any freshwater runoff, allowing the salinity of its water to remain high.

2. Why is open pit mining so devastating to the environment?
skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

D. It completely removes any available topsoil.

Explanation:

Open pit mining strips off the top layer of the soil in order to access near surface mineral deposits. Most near surface deposits are usually rock aggregates, coal, copper etc.

In order, to access these minerals, large amount of earth must be removed by earth moving machines.

Open pit mining greatly unsettles the ecosystem in mining regions and it leaves the surface bare and not suitable for agricultural activities.

Answer:

A. The closer the Earth locations, the farther apart the Venus locations appear to be

Explanation:

 • Venus is the closest planet to the earth and is most similar in size but the nearness to the plant depends on the orbit as the planets travel in an ellipse around the sun and thus the distance among them is constantly shifting and changing.
 • Venus takes about 224 days to travel around the sun. Thus the distance from the venus form the earth is about 223 million km.
