-The eagle shows that United States values freedom and liberty.

The bald eagle was chosen as a characteristic and particular species in the American continent. It represents freedom. A bald eagle flies high, on the tops where mountains are the predominant panorama. This is a metaphor for liberty in full sense. It seems that this species, in particular, has unlimited space to move, therefore complete liberty. Remember that freedom and liberty were values was found always in political speech and served as the driving force for the formation of the American nation. The bald eagle was chosen in 1782 as the emblem of the United States of America. Additionally, the animal lives in an environment where no predators limit its behavior, flying into valleys downward, then upward and practically can go anywhere after some repose.

Answer: A. The eagle represents the willingness of the United States to use force to protect its territories.

Explanation: This question was supposed to be accompanied by a political cartoon and a sub line stating that it was a political cartoon made for the purpose of supporting imperialism. As those who will be requiring the answer to the question will already have access to both of these, no further explanation is required.

While referencing both of the previously mentioned materials, the question can easily be solved via process of elimination.

B. The eagle shows that the United States has expanded enough.

This is incorrect because a political cartoon created for the purpose of supporting imperialism wouldn't give off the message that the United States no longer needs to expand.

C. The eagle represents the threat the United States poses to other countries.

This is incorrect because the eagle is not looming nor gazing menacingly at other countries, rather its feet are planted firmly on the United States and its eyes are half-closed, the latter suggesting that the eagle is not focused, and therefore does not intend to commit to any type of action in the near future.

D. The eagle shows that United States values freedom and liberty.

This is incorrect because although eagles are typically associated with freedom and liberty, the eagle shown in the political cartoon shows no intention of flying anywhere due to the fact that its wings are pointed toward the earth. As birds in flight are usually considered to be the utmost symbol of freedom (due to the sheer amount of maneuvers they can employ while in the air), an eagle that isn't flying would not be meant to represent freedom and liberty.

After eliminating B. C. and D., there is no other option for the correct answer to be other than A. The eagle represents the willingness of the United States to use force to protect its territories.

Because of the transcontinental railroad, which country became more accessible for trade? Mexico Canada China
charle [14.2K]
The correct answer should be Mexico. Canada was north while China was on a completely different continent that had nothing to do with the railroad. Mexico became more accessible because the railroad went as far west as Nevada and California which were Mexican for a long time.
