This short story “ <em><u>Games at Twilight </u></em>“ written by <u>Anita Desai</u> relates about the games that children used to play outside. Ravi, one of the children finds the games so important that when he does not win he remains disillusioned. Mira is described as the ‘motherly’ figure here, which shows her maturity and she steers the group as a true leader.

It connects two clauses where the second clause (which contains otherwise) express what would have happened if the action in a first sentence hadn't occurred.
