Answer: The right answer is B) Necessary.

Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, it can be added that although the word obligatory primarily means enforced or compulsory, I believe that in this excerpt it has been used with a hint of humor, as if suggesting that it was expected of the narrator to burn the draft card, and he did so, since everybody was doing it (in opposition to the Vietnam War). However, his main concern and occupation was his job at a printing press.

Compose a one-paragraph persuasive message board post about Grendel. Your post will respond to
Anna007 [38]

Writing from Grendel's point of view, makes him seem more monstrous and dangerous.

Explanation:

Writing from Grendel's perspective makes him seem more monstrous. Even though we get to see the story from his perspective, he has a very narrow range of emotions. He is unable to relate to the actual humans in the book, showing that he is fundamentally different from them. Beowulf and the other warriors are typical humans, and Grendel is a one-dimensional monster.

The lack of common ground between these two kinds of characters makes the division between them very obvious. Therefore, it's difficult to find sympathy for Grendel as you would for another human.

Lapatulllka [165]
The correct answer should be
B.Using AND between the search terms: golf AND stroke

If he used OR then either of the two would show up, including medical stroke. If he used quotation marks it would show things that have that exact word unchanged, which would include medical, and using NOT in such a way would only show golf without mentioning strokes at all.

How do the words hideous, revolting, and false most affect the tone and meaning of this passage?
erica [24]

Answer: C. The words hideous, revolting, and false most affect the tone and meaning of this passage, so as to show the speaker's disgust over slavery.

Explanation:

Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) was an American social reformer, orator, abolitionist and writer. Having himself escaped from slavery in Maryland, he became a leader of the abolitionist movement in Massachusetts and New York, famous for his oratory and antislavery writings.

On July 4th, 1852, he delivered a speech at the commemoration of signing of the Declaration of Independence. In the speech, he addressed the issue of slavery, and the injustice the slaves were subjected to. The use of words hideous, revolting and false, demonstrates his disgust over slavery.

valkas [14]

Benjamin Franklin''s argument was explaining the difference in lifestyles of the Indians and the Americans. Why should they be called savages just because their lifestyle is different than ours.
