Answer:

1. North Equatorial Current

2. Antilles Current

3. Florida Current

4. Gulf Stream

5. North Atlantic Drift

6. Canaries Current

Explanation:

The North Atlantic gyre starts around the Equator, near the western coastline of equatorial Africa. The water warms up in this area and it starts to move toward northwest as the North Equatorial Current. As it reaches the Antilles Islands, this current changes its properties slightly, and becomes the Antilles Current entering into the Caribbean Sea. As the current circles the Caribbean sea and moves toward northeast it becomes the Florida Current. Once this current reaches the open Atlantic waters it becomes the Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream moves in northeastern direction and as it gradually cools down it becomes the North Atlantic Drift which reaches the western coast of Europe. This current then splits in two, with one of them moving back to the place of origin of this gyre, becoming the Canaries Current, which is the coldest part of this gyre.

inysia [295]

Answer:

Traveling to New Zealand would be an amazing experience. I would enjoy snowboarding, visiting hot springs, and seeing volcanoes. I will have fun doing other extreme sports. I am excited to see the rocky coasts, forests, and mountains. Traveling between the two islands might be tiring, but I will be able to see two different climate zones. I will miss out on summer activities, but I love winter activities and will enjoy myself.

What is typically responsible for forming volcanic island chains in the oceans? Question 10 options: A) Composite volcanoes B) F
RSB [31]

Answer:

C

Explanation:

A hot spot develops above the plume. Magma generated by the hot spot rises through the rigid plates of the lithosphere and produces active volcanoes at the Earth's surface. And as oceanic volcanoes move away from the hot spot, they cool and subside. As a result they produce older islands, atolls, and seamounts.

The altitude of Polaris measured by an observer at the Tropic of Cancer is 1) 15° 2) 23.5° 3) 66.5° 4) 90°
9966 [12]

Answer: 23.5\°

Explanation:

The Tropic of Cancer is one of the parallels (imaginary line around the Earth parallel to the equator) located in the northern hemisphere (currently its latitude is 23.43672\° \approx 23.5\°).

It is called "Cancer" because a long time ago, when the summer solstice occurred in the northern hemisphere (on June 20th or 21st), the Sun was in the constellation Cancer (the crab).

Now, if we were just in the North Pole, Polaris would by exactly over our heads (90\° over the horizon), but as we go south and find the Tropic of Cancer parallel, Polaris altitude will be approximately at an angle of 23.5\° over the horizon.

Hence, the altitude of Polaris measured by an observer at the Tropic of Cancer is 23.5\°.
